EDUCATIONAL ORGANISATION “LA SALLE”

– an international educational presence –
The World Educational Organization “La Salle” consists of a network of schools, called lasallian, named after the founder of the first Christian schools in Europe, Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle (1651- 1719), a pioneer educator in his era, who dedicated his life to teachers, children and their education.
The first schools were created in France in the 17th century and, today, the schools that still apply the pedagogical principles of de La Salle number approximately 1,000. These are schools of all levels of education, from nursing, kindergartens, primary schools, secondary general and technological schools to universities. All these educational institutions operate thanks to the collaboration between 90,000 lay educators and 3,500 Brothers.
Responding to contemporary needs, the followers of De La Salle’s work keep on offering educational and pedagogical services with faith and zeal to more than 1,000,000 children, teenagers and young people in 80 countries worldwide, irrespective of religion, cultural background and language.
The central administration of the Institute of the Brothers of Christian Schools is located in Rome [www.lasalle.org]. 1,000 lasallian institutes, scattered across the five continents, are divided respectively in five major regions:
- European and Mediterranean countries à RELEM
- Asia, Australia, Oceania à PARC
- S.A, Canada à RELAN
- Latin America à RELAL
- Africa à RELAF
